Sorry I haven't updated in a while. But guess what everyone?! My momma and daddy are getting married in two days! Ah!!! We've been busy! Tomorrow is the rehearsal dinner, then Saturday is the wedding, then they'll be gone on something called a hon-e-moon. I have no idea why they think they can get to the moon......But, check out their blog if you'd like.

Now, for the sad news, our hamster, Checkers, he passed away last week. Poor guy.

ALT Levels Revisited

UPDATE on the UPDATE!
I finally found some USA made raw hides, more bully sticks for a pretty decent price and another digestible bone that was a little less expensive, but the pet shop said it was good. I also got the black, super kong. I put his food with peanut butter in it and threw it in the freezer for a few hours. He seems to like it! We'll see how he does tomorrow with the new kind of raw hide!

UPDATE From Sidka's Mum:
It was virtually IMPOSSIBLE to find raw hides that were not overseas. So, we decided to finally try bully sticks. Man, Sid goes through those FAST, FAST, FAST and they're expensive...So we also got the edible Nyla Bone s that are completely digestable. Both Sidka and Josie love them. We have to get Sid the souper size (!) and Josie the regular size (versus petite, she went through that too fast!). So, I tend to think they're not as...durable as I'd like. I like them, but also expensive, so they're limited. Raw hides lasted so much longer for Sid...but no USA rawhides to be found so far! Any suggestions?

We might try another, super, super, super tough (the black, I think) kong with frozen something or other inside it. Anyone else have powerful chewers that need to be crated for 4-6 hours a day? What do you leave with them?

We're hoping to eliminate any raw hide that does not come from the US and that way, his ALT levels may go down. If not, Sidka might get Marin.

If that helps enough by May 24th or so, Sidka will get his vaccines that are due by May 28th. If not, we'll see!!

All of a sudden, there's all kindsa pinks. All kindsa purples.

The reds and dark blues, not so bad, I can deal with that. Plus, you know what that pattern done below reminds mom and me of? The good ol' USA and you know what the A stands for in USA? AMERICA! And you know what I am???? I'm an AMERICAN ESKIE!!!!!!!!

The blacks and whites, I lovvveesss those! Especially in a checkered flag pattern!!

ALT Levels

Hello Every Dog,
My ALT levels, those pesky liver enzymes, are still pretty high. Dr. Bennington said my ALT levels should be around 120 at the highest. The first time they poked me and took blood my ALT was 254. They put me on that hot dog treat, I mean...penicillin, twice a day and then mom brought me back and they poked me again. This time, my ALT levels were 249. So they went down, but not as much as Dr. Bennington would have liked, especially in two weeks time.

Dr. Bennington says it could be the raw hides mom and dad have been giving me....so Mom threw out ALL my raw hides and she said she's going to get me special ones tomorrow (ones that are from the USA only).

Does any dog know much about ALT levels? Do Eskie's tend to have liver problems?

Newturd....

Hi every dog! I'm bacckk! Mommy brought me home just a few minutes ago from being newturd. Like someone here said, it was like a little nap...cept I had to stay there all nights! How come no one told me mommy leave me there for a whole nights?

The doctor said my liver enzymes are still really high. But mommy and daddy wanted me to get that chip and be newturd, so the doctors check other liver things and let me take that nap. Mommy has to keep me on the walking leash when we go outside, instead of the lead. She'll do that for 10 days. I want to jump and play, but mommy says no. So I'm writing this, then I'm going to take a nice pig ear into my crate and take another naps.

Only 2 more days until Josie is here!

Josie got me! She's not even moved in yet and she remembered to do Rabbit Rabbit before me!!
Does every dog remember what rabbit rabbit is?! In our house it is a tradition for the first day of every month--the first person, or doggy that says RABBIT RABBIT gets a kiss from everyone in the house....so....yeah......I have to kiss Josie.

Mommy's on a roll!

Know that doggy pillow she made for Josie? Well, now she's made one for Jove too! I'm so really jealous...but mommy put the fleecies in my crate and sure enough I threw it in the waters...I just couldn't help myself!! So I don't get a pillow bed for my crate, but mommy did get me a surprise today!! She has had her eyes on a checkered fleecie pattern that looks just like a checkered flag. It was on sale this week so she gots some and she's going to make me a pillow bed for outside of the crate!! I'm so excited!! So far, mommy has made two of those comfy looking beds and she made both with fleece. She's gonna try one with soft flannels to see if it is as nice and comfy for doggies!

The picture with the velcro things mommy took to show Jove's mommy to see which velcros she wanted. Mommy likes the way the red looks. I told mommy I want black velcros for my pillow!! Josie's velcro is pink, talk about yuck!! There's a lot more pink in the house since Mommy and Daddy decided to 'dopt Josie...

Doesn't Jove's bed look nice and handsome, not to mention comfy?!

Oh and my mom wanted me to tell you if you want a pillow bed she can give you better instructions, or you can ask her to make one!

Hi Every dog!
Mommy and Dad are really excited about Josie coming home! She will be here in 1 more week!!
Mommy finished a pretty pink plaid dog bed for Josie. Mommy's testing one with me....I still throw stuff in my water bowl, so Mommy is testing some fleece in my crate with me before she makes a pillow for me. She says as soon as I throw the fleece in the water, she'll take it out and I'll only get the dog bed when I'm taking naps out of the crate. hmph. I better learn to NOT put things in my water bowl!

The picture to the left is of Josie's finished bed and the blue fleece is what Mommy is using for my bed.

But, what I'm really blogging about today is Josie's Blog!
She has only two entries so far, but it's pretty interesting! I think Mommy is really excited for a girl doggy in the house!

Yesterday it snowed again! I was so surprised when I went out in the morning! I love the snow! Mommy and Daddy weren't as happy as me though....I heard them say they're sick of the snow! GASP! Did you know in Caribou, Maine they broke a record for snow fall amounts?! You can read about it in Josie's blog!

New Girl

There's going to be a new girl in town....

Her name is Josie, she's a rat terrier, so she's a little bit littler than me. BUT, she's older than me..

Josie is 4 years old and 12 pounds. She is traveling from Arkansas! I am jealous she gets to go for so long rides....but momma says Josie has been through lots of bad stuffs, and I should be glad I have a good home.
Momma and Dadda are rescuing Josie from Paws and Claws New England, from a lady in Arkansas named Judy. Judy takes doggies that need homes and cleans them up and takes care of them until someone, like mommy and daddy, decide to bring them to their furever home.
I am glad I am getting a doggie friend! Mommy says Josie is really, really, shy so I have to be careful with her. She looks pretty cute...too bads I will be newtured when she comes.........

Momma says she's taking me back to Dr. Bennington next Wednesday and he'll do the newtur and micro-chip then. Someone here said it was like taking a nap, I can handle that!

Thanks for all the comments! The virus went through my bodies, but didn't hurt anything! My livers were just trying to protect me is what Dr. Bennington says. But every morning and every night night I got two little hot dog treats! Mommy says it was my medicine...I don't know, but I like hot dogs (the peeples foods, not like Chloe hot dogs. Well, I like Chloe dogs, but I don't like eating them!!)

Ginny has been super mean lately! She doesn't get along very well with our Pooka-cat. Mom says she is worried, but Daddy says not to worry. Mommy got some smell good spray and it's supposed to make the kitties not fight. It works kinda...but Ginny picks on Pookas all the time! Mommy sprays Ginny with the water bottle and it makes me laugh, but she doesn't learn, she still 'tacks Pooka!!

Mommy and Daddy went to Easter and they got to see our friends new house and the new baby! She's so cutes! I didn't get no hams though...

Now, Momma and Daddy aren't getting Jack-Jack, which is sad...
Mom says he wasn't the right fit after all. I guess that means he woulda been a little too big like my Halloween costume was last halloweens. But, instead of Jack Jack, mommy and daddy looked through a lot of doggies and took a long long time talking to peoples about doggies. Now, next Saturday, April 5, Mommy and Daddy are going to pick up my new sister. That's right a SISTER!! I told daddy that's not a good ideas! Daddy says we're already out numbered, so we have to give in! But, she looks nice, so I guess it will be okay....

I will write a separate post about my new sister, Mommy says she deserves her own posts.........

I was supposed to be newturd today, but I got some blood works done and my liver enzymes were too high. The dr. bennington told mommy and daddy that meant my body was fighting off a little virus or something. I have to take some penncillin stuffs and then my mom and dad will bring me back to be newturd in another 2 weeks. what does this all mean anyways? I don't think it's fun stuff...

Because I need to be newturd before we can take Jack Jack home, we're not sure when we can get hims now. Mommy and Daddy don't know what's going on! We'll update later!

Hello All Doggies!
First, I want to thank you all for bearing with me and offering your best wishes!

Now, I will update you on my life!

I am now living with mommy, daddy, Ginny and Pooka in Grammie's house...well, now it's our house. I like it because I have more room to run and I get to spend more time outside! The park isn't as close as it was to our apartment in Gardiner, but with all this outside space it's like we have our own park!

I've learned to lift my leg when I go pee! I now pee on the posts outside that hold the porch up! Mommy wonders what other dog is peeing there because I always sniff it and then lift my leg to try to pee higher!!

We have a loooottttttttt of snow here in Maine, it's been a pretty wruff winter! It was really cold and windy for a little while....

During one of the snow and ice storms, we lost powers! It got really cold in here, we didn't have lectricity and the heat turned off. Daddy and Mommy were really smart and got us a genrater so we could have some heat and night time. When we got heat back, Daddy did something funny. He got down on his knee like he was gunna play with me, but instead he gave mommy this round thing and she cried and cried. She calls it a gagement ring. Do you doggies know what that means??

Tomorrow Mommy is bringing me to Dr. Bennington...she and Dad say I'm going to spend the night and get my micro chip and be neutered...what does that mean every dog??

Ohhh and for the most exciting news of all........Mommy and Daddy are getting a new doggie! They are rescuing a doggie named Jack Jack.

He is like my bestest friend Chloe because he is part dachshund, but he is part pomeranian too (Mommy says poms look kind like us Eskies, but different too). I am so excited to have a friend!! Mommy says Jack looks like the doggie she used to have, Jasmine. Jas was a dachshund beagle mix that she and her mommy (my grammie) adopted from a lady. We're picking Jack up on Saturday before Easter! We're going to have so much funnn!!

Yesterday I got grooms. I look so handsome and I smell a lot better! Mommy will post pictures of me later. Right now she is working on knitting a baby blanket.

Oh yeah, our friends Desi and Rodie had a baby, her name is baby Lucy! She is a hueman baby, but she is really cute! We're going to Desi and Rodie's house for Easter and we will give baby Lucy her blanket and introduce her to Jack Jack and Mommy says the huemans are going to eat hams! Mmmmmmmmm........

Hello every dog,
It's me Sidka!
I've been gone for a little while, I know. My momma and Dad are really busy moving and going to school and going to the human place called work.
We're living in a new house! It used to be grammie's house. Now she is holding her doggie Jasmine and my best friend Chloe up in heaven. I've got a lot more room to run and do zoomies! And I get to play outside a lot more! Guess what? Today is Friday and it's been snowing here since Tuesday! It's still snowing right now! I love the snow!
I want to thank everyone for the nice words and out pouring of thoughts. I didn't know I was going to be in the DWB news! How do I find it?
Mom and I just went to check up on our blog after stumbling across it in a google search and we saw we had 18 comments! Wow we said!
In our new home, we're with two kitties! My sister Ginny and my other sister Pooka! They're not getting along...but I like them both!

It's a not so happy new year...
This is Sid's mum again...bad news, again.
I just wanted to tell everydog that Sid's best friend Chloe Lynn is being put down today. She's a mini dachshund. She fell down the stairs with the ice and broke 3 of her legs...we haven't gotten an update since about 9AM.
Can anyone send me the words to those bridge and rainbow poems? I don't have the motivation to look them up online right now...

It's a snow day!! Mommy doesn't have to teach, but daddy has to work. Mommy brought me outside and we played in the snow! It was so much fun! Then the neighbor came to visit and she petted me and I didn't jump on her at all! It was so much fun! My paws are a little wet (mommy made sure I had no snow stuck to them) but it's not bad. When we got back inside I got a nylabone and now I'm staying warm beside Mommy! I think I like the snow!

Mum and Dad took me to the new petsmart. It was greeeaaattt! We met this lady--and she gave me treats. She hooked a leash to me...I didn't mind, but then she went and got this harness thing and put that on me too! Then mum and dad walked me around the store so I could see all the smells and when I tried to jump on a little girl, Mumma stepped on that new leash! I popped back down and I could only sit. What the heck was that about?! But then Mumma and daddy bought some treats, that harness thing and the leash and we went home. But guess what...I showed them and I chewed through the harness thing! Hahahaha...but then mom and dad got a new one--and they sprayed it with this yucky stuff!. Ugh.

*Note from Sid's Mum: We brought him for a behavior evaluation at Petsmart and we got a lot of good advice! It's working so far!

Bath Time

It's almost time for a b.a.t.h. psh. I don't really like them, but Mumma says I need one.

Once this quarter is done, Daddy will help Mumma and I'll be in the tub, so I thought I'd update everyone real quick like.

I snuck a peek at the Christmas gifts...Mum and Dad got me a HUGE rawhide bone. It's like, twice the size of me!! I can't wait to get it!

Yesterday we went to PETCO and I got my nails trimmed. I hate that...but after I got to pick out some chewies and Mum tried a santa hat on me. I didn't think it was amusing, but I tolerated it. Mum didn't have her camera, otherwise she'd have taken pictures. But she said she'd get it for me to wear to Grammie's house for Christmas Eve, so she'll take pictures then.

Sleepy

Today is a sleepy day.

Yesterday was Mumma's birthday--she turned 22. Today is my birthday, I am now 9 months old!
Mumma is still real busy with school, I'll be glad when she's done and I think she'll be glad too!

Mommy and Daddy left papers on top of my crate when they went to visit grammie yesterday and I was so mad at them...I tored alllllll the papers up and made confetti. But then I was glad when they came home, so I did a happy dance and pretended the paper was confetti for a surprise party. But only Ginny and I came to the surprise party cuz the door was locked so no one could get in. It was fun...

Ginny found TWO mices in the house!! So Mommy had to tell Daddy and Daddy had to tell the land lord and the land lord gave mommy some boxy things she put under the cupboard in the kitchen. She told me and Ginny NO! Not treats! And she put a new locky thing on the cupboards...but I'm still curious, so she put ANOTHER gate so I can't go in the kitchen!!

Everyone wants to see pictures and that video. Mommy didn't have time to load the video, but she says she'll help me post pictures now...That last picture is after I found out Mommy was student teaching and she'd be busy busy busy!!!

Mommy's been working really hard--she has a lot to do. But that's ok. Daddy and I have been going outside and we play in the grass!
Mommy vacuumed the area outside of my crate today--wow, there was a ton of fur!! I was shocked! I didn't really like the noise of the vacuum though...
but then I played with daddy on the bed, we had fun running around...well, I had fun. And I scared Daddy a lot! Mommy's going to help me load the video here so everyone can see!

NILIF

Hi everyone! I just wanted you guys to know that Mommy started this NILIF (as per your advice every doggies!) thing and I think it's working! We just started 3 days ago, but she swears she sees big improvements! Now she just needs to get Daddy to be consistent and use NILIF advice too!

On another similar note...
So...somehow...my potty behaviors have magically been "cured" again. I don't go inside the house anymore. Mommy wonders if I will again! She said she's going to call the V-E-T...what's that?!
Is that where I get the good freeze dried liver treats?!?!?!!
I loooovvveee those! Mommy won't buy them for me though, she says it's a special treat for when I go to the V-E-T to see Dr. Bennington...I hope we go soon!!

Things I Like!

1. Where is your favorite place to sleep?

My old crate, even though it's kinda cramped in there, it makes me feel safe!!

2. Is there any specific trick your human makes you do to get treats?

Well....sometimes I get sit and Sid mixed up and sometimes I get Shake and Speak mixed up...but most of the time my trick is Sit and Stand Handsome and then I get a wysong biscuit or a cookie!!

3. If you could spend an entire day doing anything at all what would you do and with whom?

I think I'd like to just lay on the couch and watch TV with Daddy and Mommy and then go to the park with them and then go buy more toys and treats at petco with them!!

4. What is your favorite toy?

My newest favorite toy is the football mommy got me, it rattles and it has ropes on both sides! Yay! But I also love my squeaky moo moo and my rawhides.

5. If you could change one thing in your life what would it be?

That Ginny liked me more and we got a long better and that Mommy and Daddy didn't have to work and that I get to taste people food. That's all, it's not too much to ask for, is it?!

Yesterday Mommy and I went for a walk. She took me because I think she felt bad for leaving me home alone all those days while her and Daddy work. But she told me they need to work to be able to buy my food and flea stuff and toys...so I guess I'm glad they work...
After we played in the park we went to PETCO! We got some new treats and cookies and then mommy went to the way back of the store and she looked at wire things while I looked at squeaky toys. I don't know why, but she had this guy bring this BIG box out to the truck and she bought me a football squeaky! When we got home Mommy set up this wire thing from the big box and she put my football in there! What?! Why does my football toy need a cage Mommy??? I just kept asking her that. Then she put my rawhide in there too and my blankie. What is going on Mommy??

Then after all that we went to bed. And in the morning when Mommy took a shower she put me in that Kennel!! But, I think I like it, it's bigger than my other one and I get more room to stretch and move around.

Hopefully Mommy gets a replacement cord soon...and I won't chew on it this time! What's a blog without pictures!!

Hi Everyone,
This is Sidka's Mommy here...

We're having trouble with Sid...and we're looking for advice from other Mini Eskie or Eskie owners. We've had Sid since 71/2 weeks and he just turned 6 months old.

He's still not completely potty trained--he pees whenever he likes, wherever he likes and he doesn't even ask to go outside anymore! We moved to a new apartment July first and within the first two weeks he was asking to go outside on a regular basis and he wasn't making any mistakes! We were so happy and we praised him constantly for asking to go outside and relieving himself outside. But now he doesn't ask anymore and even when we take him out, he comes back in and goes pee on the floor! We take him out when we're home every 1.5 hours and when he's in his crate he does not relieve himself. Once we do get back we take him straight outside and he'll go to the bathroom, but then when back inside for a bit, he goes again!

Potty training isn't the only problem. Sidka bites Mommy and it hurts! He jumps and tries to play, but he only bites mommy, why is this?

Also, is it normal for Sidka to be so hyper?

Mommy got me a new collar! Yay!! See, it's a long story.....

one time when I was at Chloe's we were outside and I was on her metal leash (because I chewed through the regular one...woops) and I just so excited about something I ran and my collar stayed with the leash, but I didn't. So Mommy had to borrow a collar from Chloe that she doesn't use because she wears a harness (I chewed through one of those too...what can I saw?). It was a pink and purple collar-yuck! I hated it!! But mommy got me a new one of my very own! It's red and white and blue and it has American flags on it and it says USA.

It looks kind of like this, except with letters.

Mommy would upload a picture of me wearing the collar...but umm...I chewed through her cord that links the computer to her camera. umm...ANYWAY...

In three days I'm going to be 6 months old!
Mommy and Daddy joke around and say that's the last day they can bring me back to the Schmitz, my breeders. Hahahaha....at least, I hope they're joking!

Mommy's new job is long...Daddy comes home in the middle of the day to let me out and we run around in the yard. I miss being able to spend so much time with Mommy and Daddy though...Mommy says after this summer once she gets a teaching job she won't have to work during the summers so I'll have almost 3 whole months with her all to myself! Yay!

Here I am again. Mommy got the computer ready for me while I was taking a nappy. I think Ginny used it first though cus there's black hairs on the keyboard and screen and I don't have black hairs and Mommy doesn't have black hairs......

Mommy doesn't feel well today so she's home. I like it when she's home but I don't like it when she's sick. She was going to go into work but they told her NO! They didn't want the other older peoples to get sicky like her. (She works for older peoples and helps them with their foods and drinks and snacks. She's a dia-tare aide). So I get to spend some time OUT of my crate which makes me feel good. I get to stretch my legs and rest on the couch. Mommy and daddy said they'd get me a new bigger crate once they get more moneys, hopefully in the next coupla weeks I'll have a bigger space!

Ginny doesn't like me. She growls and hisses and she's taken over the house. I don't mind 'cept when I want to be on the bed with Mommy, specially when she's sick. Then Ginny gets all poofy (it's kinda funny) and she hisses and spits at me. Mommy says "GINERVA MOLLY!!" in a mad voice like she does with me sometimes ('cept she says "SIDKA BRISTOL DIMMICK!!") but Ginny doesn't stop. I think we're going to have to find a happy medium here or Ginny is gonna be one sad kitty back at the shelter place Mommy talks about.

Mommy cried last night when she was talking to Daddy. They were getting ready for bed and I was in my crate and Mommy was saying how she loved Ginny, but it wasn't good that we didn't get along. And she said she doesn't want to, but she thinks if we don't get along soon that she might have to take Ginny back and find a different kitty to get along with me... I don't want Mommy to be sad and I know she loves Ginny so I tried to be friends with her again today and she hissed and spit at me again. I stopped trying to steal her food and her toys and I don't even try to chase her anymore. I just kinda mind my own business, but I wish Ginny would know how Mommy is sad and start to behave like a good kitty!!

This makes me miss my Pooka even more. I think Mommy and Daddy miss Pooka too--I wish she could come live with us but she can't because she goes outside and that's not allowed in our partment.

So, does anyone have any ideas on how to get me and Ginny to get along? I know Zach says she's just a kitty, don't worry--but I needa make Mommy happy!!

I don't know about this whole kitty thing. She growls every time I go near her. Mommy keeps saying she won't tolerate Ginny being mean to me, but Ginny keeps being mean!

I mean, all I wanna do is chase her around and bit and play with her and steal her toys and her food. I don't know if I want to be friends with her anyway, she seems kinda snotty. She sits on the bed like she's a queen. Hmpf. She shoulda seen it when I used to be able to sleep in my crate on the bed! Aha!! She may be queen, but I'm king!!

Yesterday mommy left in the morning and said she'd be working a double. I didn't know what that meant! But I guess it means she had to be away for a very long time! She didn't get home until after Sunset. She told me she saw the sun rise on her way to work and the sun set on her way back home. Wow...it musta been a long day for Mommy.

Daddy will be back from racing tonight! He was in Nova Scotia allll weekend long. I miss him and I can tell Mommy does too. Daddy told Mommy that they got 9th in the race! Yay! We like top ten finishes!

I dunno about this whole cat business. She got to sleep on the bed last night with my mum (Daddy is in Halifax racing, but mommy had to work this weekend so she didn't go) and I had to stay in my darned old crate. Hmpf.

This morning I even tried to get mommy to stay home from work--I puked on my blanket--and what'd she do? She took me out of my crate, took me outside "for some fresh air", then she washed my blanket, put a new one in my crate gave me some water and stuck me back in there! The nerve!!

Know what Ginny got today? She got canned food!!!!!! I only get canned food when I get my kong--once a week!! What's up with that?!?!?!

Mommy just reminded me that I have carob chip cookies, and creme filled cookies and savory bones and raw hides and marrow bones...but still Ginny got canned food!!! Hmpf.

Life's not fair. Mommy got herself a treat today too--the new Harry Potter Book!! Like I said, life's not fair!

Ginny the Kitty

Mommy thought of a name for the kitty--Ginerva (yeah, like Harry Potter) but we'll call her Ginny for short. Mommy's a big Harry Potter crazy, she's excited the book is coming out tomorrow.

When she was trying to find names she said Ginny out loud and the kitty came right to her and meowed! So that was that, Ginny it is!

Surprise...

Mommy went somewhere today and she was gone for a little while (I stayed in my crate...) and when she got back she had all kinds of smells on her...I was very wary.
She brought in this white and brown thing that she put in the doorway of the bathroom and she called it a gate and she told me: "No jumping Gate!" and I kinda rolled my eyes at her,
why would I wanna jump over that thing?

Then mommy said she had a surprise for me! And then I knew where all those smells were coming from, she musta gone to my favoritest store--PETCO! (Where the pets go!). She gave me a new treat--a peanut butter bear treat (Made in Maine!) so I thought I was all set for surprises. But then I spied another petco bag with those treats from the dessert bar that I like so much! Woo hoo!! Mommy went shopping (I forgave her for going without me...)

When I was settled back into my crate with my peanut butter bear, Mommy brought in another surprise. It was a little box with holes all over and there was something moving inside. Ah!

When Mommy opened the box out popped a kitty!! A real kitty for me!! Here's a picture of her! I'm in the crate and mommy says Kitty is showing me who's boss! (I don't think so...) It's not Ferris and Frye though, it's not even Ferris OR Frye! Mommy went and picked a new kitty without me!! Right now the kitty doesn't really have a name...the Humane Society called her "Miss Kitty" but Mommy doesn't know what she'll name her for good. So far she just calls her Kitty...so maybe the name will stick!
So now I know why Mommy got a gate, it's so I won't go eat the kitty treats in the box...

Lots of fur?

I see all these pictures of Eskies that have lots and lots and lots of fur...I'm wondering when I'm going to get more fur! Will I ever? How long did it take you, Casper D. Dog to get all your pretty fur? And what about you, Casper from Canada? And Zach (except when you're shaved...), or Hana or Blu & Comet?

How long did it take you all to grow that pretty fur?? I want pretty fur!!

Does it make a difference that I am a mini?
My biological Daddy has a lot of fur!
He looks like a white lion, I want to be just like him when I grow up!!

And my Daddy has a lot of fur on his face!
How'd he get it all?! Sometimes he shaves it off like Zach, or he trims it up.

Ughhhhh!!!!!!!

Mommy let me update my blog last night, she gave me all the time in the world--and I wasn't suspicious, but I shoulda been! Once I was done, she put me in the tub and started a bath! Ah! I hate baths!!!!

Since we moved into this new place I kinda miss some people and some cats...(but shhh don't tell...)

I misses my sister cat Pooka...There she is, being all cute and innocent like! She's sooo pretty! And guess what? She only has a little tail, littlier than mine! Mommy and Daddy say she's a bobb-ed tail-ed kitty! That's pretty cool!

I misses my auntie too...
Here I am with my auntie, I used to see her lots, but I don't see her as much now...

I miss my grammie...I don't see her ever anymore! She used to baby sit me when my daddy and mommy worked...now I stay in my crate. pshhh.

I sometimes...just a little...miss grammies new doggie Milo. She got Milo a little while before we moved out. I wanted to play with him all days long...but he snipped at me a little....He wasn't used to being around small puppies like me, it scared me! But sometimes, I miss Milo...

Know what I really miss? I realllllyyyyy miss my NYlA bone! Mommy and Daddy misplaced it during the move and we can't find it anywhere!!! I miss my poor NYLA bone, it's probably really lonely wherever it is! Mommy says it's okay to miss somethings, some people, some cats and some dogs. Mommy even told me she misses her old doggie, Jasmine. Mommy had Jasmine since she was a little girl...and Jasmine died in January 2007. Mommy said she was really sad for a long time and even now she's still sad and she misses Jasmine. Here's a picture of my Mommy and Jasmine a few years ago. Jasmine seems like a nice doggie, doesn't she? I wish I could have met her!

Sitka, Sidka!

I thought I should tell everyone about my name...I meant to yesterday and I got carried away with other things. But now that Mom is done using the computer and she let me have a few more minutes, I thought I would use my time wisely and let everyone know about my namesake.OK, here's the story... When my mommy and daddy first went to look at me and decided they would take me, they couldn't take me home for another TWO weeks! They had to wait because I hadn't had all my shots yet and I was still weaning.

So they went home and tried thinking of names for me. The first names they talked about were:
Bristol (As is Bristol Raceway)
Rowling (As in JK Rowling) Casper (Yes, just like Casper D. Dog!)
Sitka or Sidka
The next step was narrowing down the names, Daddy's favorite name was Britsol and Mommy's favorite was Sidka (versus Sitka because she wanted to be able to call me Sid for short).
I guess Mommy and Daddy talked about it and talked about it and talked about it and decided on Sidka. They decided Sidka because of it's relevance to Alaska. (Alaska is known for it's snow, snow is white and so are Eskies!) Plus, Mommy and Daddy LOVE Alaska, they love the snow, the snowmobiling, the ocean, the salmon, the mini Alaskan huskies -also known as Alaskan Klee Kais- (yes, I know I have competition...).

See, my mommy and daddy didn't want a reused name like Snowball or Sugar (yuck, talk about embarrassing!). So they thought they'd get an original name with Sidka! So far we haven't found any other Sidkas! We've heard of Sitkas and we've heard of Sids, but we haven't heard of another Sidka--does anyone know of any doggies named Sidka like me?!

Mommy forgot to tell me (silly Mommy) when I was updating that she dropped off my card to Casper today. She said the mail man thought it was a funny name--he thought it was a human! But then Mommy told him she was just dropping it off for me, it was for my friend Casper the Dog. I hope the mail man rushes, rushes, rushes it to Casper!

Ugh. I had such a B-O-R-I-N-G day!

I like weekends cuz Mommy and Daddy are home and sometimes we go visit Chloe and I have so much fun! Chloe is my bestest Dachshund friend. She lives near Bangor, Maine and I get to see her a lot on the weekends. Chloe's Daddy and Mommy are friends with my Daddy and Mommy, they all race cars together. (Here's the race car)

When they are racing, Chloe and I get to stay in the outside kennel--it's so much fun outside with Chloe! I wish we could go to the race track, but Mommy says it's too loud for doggies... Here's A picture of Chloe (I can't find one of us together, Mommy says it's because we're always running too fast for her and Chloe's Mommy to take pictures!)

On the weekends the only time I have to go in my crate is at bedtime and when Mommy and Daddy eat (because they haven't gotten a kitchen table yet so they have to eat at the couch...and what can I say, I like people food!). Sometimes on weekends we take drives to different places. We have lots of fun together.

But then Monday comes again. Ugh... I have to stay in my crate when Mommy and Daddy are gone. I get a chew treat in there (today I finished that DE-LISCIOUS beef rawhide) but it's still pretty boring. I can tell right off the bat it's going to be a boring day because the alarm goes off, Mommy gets up and takes me out to do my business, she waters the flowers and then we go inside. I get to play for a bit while she eats her breakfast (and sometimes I eat my puppy chow, other times I save it) then I go back in the crate for a little while. Then another alarm goes off, Daddy gets up, takes me outside for some fresh air and I usually do another little business, then we go back inside and watch the weather and I go back in my crate with some food, some water and a treat or a toy. It doesn't seem so bad, but I like it better when Mommy and Daddy are home...

Well, tomorrow's another day...T-U-E-S-D-A-Y...hopefully it's not as boring as today...

This was my first day home. I still have my yellow ribbon on from the Schmitz, the people who breed me special for my mommy and daddy.

This was at Orono too, there was lots of sunshine and I met lots of other doggies that day!

This picture is from April, Mommy took my to the park and I got to ride without my crate. I like helping mommy drive, especially when we are going to the park or Petco! Those are my favoritest place to drive to!

this picture is from today, I am on our new couch in our new home. I got a marrow bone for being a good boy and not making any mistakes! Mommy and Daddy think I am house trained now! I just have trouble with carpets and seeing new people that get me excited...

Teethies, Kitties and Friends

I lost my first tooth today! Well, I think I've lost some in the past month or so, the vet told Mommy I had, but I didn't notice until I lost one today. Mommy was scared at first, she squelled and showed Daddy and they laughed. I didn't think it was that big a deal...

Mommy brought me to a pet store yesterday and I got to pick a new raw hide. It had a beef flavor and it's reallllyyyy good! I wanted a real big one, but she said it was too big for me. I think sometimes she underestimates my size.

While we were at the pet store mom kept showing me these two black cats. They were pretty cute. She said something about bringing them home, I hope their only visiting--I don't know. I'm a little suspicious, I heard Mommy and Daddy talking about names, Ferris and Frye...and they went to see the kitties again today, but without me. Here's a picture of one of the kitties, Ferris. He only has one eye, but it just looks like he's winking!

This is my first blog, so I guess I should introduce myself and tell you about me a little. Sorry I went right into telling you all the exciting news, I couldn't help myself.

My name is Sidka, Mommy and Daddy call me Sid sometimes for short. I know I'm in trouble when they call me Sidka Dimmick! I am a pure breed Mini American Eskimo. My mommy's name is Jewel and my Daddies name is Howl. My adopted human parents are Mommy and Daddy, or Sam and Scott. I have a sister, she's a little kitty and her name is Pooka, but she is living with my grammie. I'm just over 3 months, but I'm a big boy! I like taking baths, going for walks, doing tricks to get treats and going to Petco. Petco is my very favorite store ever because they have a desert doggie bar with all kinds of treats and Mommy usually gets me 1 pound of treats! One whole pound!!

Mommy, Daddy and I just moved to a new place in a new town. We were living with Grandma, but Mommy and Daddy wanted to get their own apartment. So now we're in Gardiner. Sometimes it's lonely here. Mommy and Daddy work during the day and I stay in my crate. But I like it when they come home because I get to play outside and run around. The people downstairs have two kitties and I like watching them in the windows. I think they're a little scared of me.

I hope I find more Eskies online to be friends with. I know Mommy lets me see pictures of Casper on his blog, he's a handsome Eskie! He has a lot more hair then me...Mommy says he's sick, but that doesn't bother me. I'm going to send my first card to him tomorrow. I'm excited! Well, I don't know what else to say.
